Christianity > Politics

We are a few days away from Election Day, I’m sure a lot of us are feeling anxious and overwhelmed. I have gone back and forth on whether or not I should blog about politics however, the Lord has placed it on my heart again. I would like to start by saying I am not here to tell you who you should vote for, you should indeed exercise your right to vote so your voice is heard. I am here to simply shift your focus back on the one whose throne is unshakable, a King who reigns over all kingdoms and earthly government authorities. Jesus Christ died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. 2 Corinthians 5:15 It seems as though we forgot who this is all for and who really has the true power and authority.
I’ve seen many flags flown, rights and lefts and endless arguments; may I ask how many people you’ve prayed for that you don’t know? How many people have you led to the kingdom of God? Does your political alliance over shadow your citizenship of heaven? Have you loved more than you hated? Regardless who is elected into office, God will not lose his power and his agenda will still get done. My question to you is, can he use you or is being right more important than witnessing to the lost? The Christian community has been divided into rights and lefts, the only side we should be on is the kingdom of God. We have been given the great commission to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that Jesus has commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20 In order to fulfill this we must look beyond our differences and care more about where our brothers and sisters will spend eternity.
The world needs a Savior, the one true Savior Jesus Christ. There are people who are assigned to us and will continue to be in bondage if we remain distracted. People are hurting, waiting for us to bring them hope; someone who just lost a family member or loved one to Covid-19. The woman who is contemplating terminating her pregnancy because she can't afford to raise the baby on her own or the husband whose wife just walked out on him because he lost his job and now he no longer has the desire to live. We cannot reach these people if we stay stuck in our comfort zones and routines. This life is a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow, James 4:14. When we leave this earth the Lord will play back our lives. We want to hear well done good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23 We don’t want to hear “I had several people assigned to you who you were supposed to share the good news with but you couldn’t see past their race, sexual orientation, political affiliation, differences or sin.” Or worse “I never knew you; depart from me.” Matthew 7:21-23 Typing that sentence made me tremble because it’s so easy to get caught in our own preferences and ignore God’s word. I know this to be true because this is how I used to live my life until God took the veil off of my eyes. I don't want to miss it and I don't want you to miss it either. Don’t complicate it, seek the Lord and follow his lead. If you feel like your walk with Christ has been compromised because you lost focus for a moment, it's okay REPENT and start over.
Today I pray that you will seek first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, do not get caught up in temporary things. The Republican or Democratic party can not hinder God’s plan or save America. This country will only get darker if we refuse to shine our light and pray bold prayers. May the Lord give you strength to be set apart and strategy in how to win the lost. All things are possible through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 He has already made a way for us we just have to step out in faith. Always remember kingdom over culture!
